Three days to make. Worth every hour.

Most bread goes from flour to shelf in about three hours. Ours takes three days. Our sourdough rises slowly and naturally, the old way, so every loaf has time to build its deep flavor, its crackly golden crust and its soft, tender inside.

Our classic loaf needs just three ingredients: flour, water and salt. The rest is patience, and a family who loves to bake.

Welcome to our bread family

Providence Bread began with sourdough baked for our own family. Today we bake for a much bigger one: our bread family. Many of you drive in from Swanton, Whitehouse and all over Northwest Ohio, and every one of you matters to us.

Stop by and you'll often find free samples on the counter, and when the season is right, a seasonal treat on us, like a cup of apple cider in the fall.

We're a faith-centered family, and baking is a family affair. Family and friends help us mix, shape, bake and fill the shelves every week, with willing hands and a lot of joy.

100% of reviewers recommend us on Facebook.

When are you open?

We open on Fridays at 1:00 PM and stay open until we sell out. The shop runs on trust: pick out your bread, pay, and go.

Do you deliver to Toledo?

Yes, on Tuesdays. We meet our Toledo customers at the Costco parking lot, and we can drop off anywhere along Route 20 and Central Avenue on the way. Order by Friday by calling or texting (734) 244-6659, or send us a message on Facebook, and we'll text you the exact time once orders are in.

What do you bake?

Sourdough loaves (our Classic is just flour, water and salt), sourdough bagels in plain, cheddar, cheddar jalapeño, cinnamon crunch and pretzel, glazed cinnamon rolls, browned butter sourdough cookies and granola. We also bake rotating specials from our recipe box.

Do you sell farm-fresh eggs?

Yes. We keep our own flock of chickens, and our farm-fresh eggs are in the shop along with local honey and cold bottled drinks.

How do I pay?

Cash in the cash box (there's a change jar), Venmo, CashApp, check or card.

How do I keep a whole loaf for later?

Wrap it in cling wrap and keep it in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.

How do I warm up a frozen loaf?

Let it thaw on the counter in its bag for 1 to 2 hours. Heat the oven to 400°F, unwrap the loaf and bake it right on the middle rack for 10 to 15 minutes.

How do I store sliced bread?

Keep it in an airtight container or zip bag for up to 3 days. Still have slices on day 3? Freeze them, then thaw or toast them later.

Is your bread organic?

Yes. Our sourdough is made with organic flour and organic ingredients, and the flour is unbleached and unbromated. The only thing we use that isn't organic is the powdered sugar in our glazes, because we haven't found a good organic one. We are a small family business and are not USDA-certified organic, so we tell you exactly what is in each bake instead. Every package lists its ingredients.

What about allergies?

All of our bread contains wheat. Many bakes also contain milk, butter or eggs, and some contain nuts, peanut butter or sesame. Every package lists its ingredients. Please message us with any question before you buy.
